The artist is the second announced performer to join the Golden Band from Tiger Land on the field the season. The university announced Monday that OneRepublic would also join the Tiger Band when the football team plays against Florida.
Blacc is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, producer and actor, and his best-known singles include "I Need A Dollar" and "The Man." He also wrote and sang vocals on Avicii's "Wake Me Up."
The performances will be the result of more than a year's worth of hush-hush planning meetings, hundreds of emails and the partnership of a number of entities, including LSU and the NCAA. College Live is the official producer for both events.
When LSU announced the OneRepublic performance, the press release mentioned a second artist, undoubtedly referring to today's announcement.
"It is an honor for the LSU Golden Band from Tigerland to share the field with Aloe Blacc." said LSU Director of Marching Bands Roy King in the Sept. 2 release. "It is another great opportunity for our kids to perform with such a gifted artist in Tiger Stadium.
