Aloe Blacc returns after ‘Wake Up’ year in 2014

Blacc is back: I first became aware of Aloe Blacc in 2013 in early discussions for the 2014 Tachevah: A Palm Springs Block Party.

Alas, we didn’t get him. Swedish electronic artist Avicci released his full-length debut studio album, “True,” in September and a video showing Blacc singing the first single, “Wake Me Up,” came out a month later. And it just blew up. It went to number one in 103 countries and became the fastest selling single in the UK.

Blacc was signed by Interscope that September and his debut album, “Lift Your Spirit,” was released in November. He was playing Coachella in April.

But Blacc, 36, has been around a long time. And, now that the dust from his sudden rise to fame has settled, you can hear him sing “Wake Me Up,” along with other cool hits like “I Need A Dollar” and “The Man,” in a more intimate setting.
