Fri, Sept 16 8:30PM. Alice Bag is an iconic punk singer, musician, author, educator and feminist archivist from Los Angeles. Alice co-founded and led The Bags, one of the first punk rock bands to emerge from L.A. in the 1970s. In 2011 Alice published a memoir, Violence Girl, East LA Rage to Hollywood Stage, the story of her upbringing in East LA, her eventual migration to Hollywood, and the euphoria and aftermath of the first punk wave. In June of this year, Alice released her first ever self-titled solo album to rave reviews. The songs on the album address social and political issues (immigration, sexual abuse, feminism), and are as powerful as ever. Join Alice Bag for an unforgettable evening of music and art by exemplary women artivistas (artist/activists) whose work focuses on stories of resistance, empowerment, equality and social justice that have inspired positive social change in their communities and beyond.
